NH Ban on Handheld Devices While Driving in Effect July 1

On Behalf of | Jun 30, 2015 | Auto Accident |

As of July 1, 2015, it will be illegal for motorists on New Hampshire roads to use hand held devices while driving – or even stopped at a red light.    The fines, which start at $100 for the first offense, can increase dramatically for subsequent convictions.  While this measure has met with some criticism for representing an over regulation of individual rights, the purpose is public safety.  Accidents caused by drivers distracted by cell phones and texting have increased dramatically over the past several years, and quite often, these accidents have catastrophic and/or fatal consequences.
